I thought the film terrific, as clearly did the packed audience. You managed to keep our interest rapt in a complex, abstract thought, which is a tremendous achievement for a documentary of that length. Bouquets to you and all your team.
The Divided Brain is a very powerful documentary that has not shied from including critical voices. It conveys, with great clarity and conviction, the immeasurable dangers of the colonisation of the brain by the left-brain hemisphere.
A fascinating documentary which filled me with admiration for the amazingly rich and amusingly imaginative human brain. It seems we are not in a blessed moment in history where the importance of each side of the brain balanced the other. I believe in the world’s desire for survival; hopefully the world will make the right choices.
Good news. I’m in this film, “The Divided Brain” & you can participate https://t.co/qveNjTeJbN— John Cleese (@JohnCleese) May 9, 2017
Once in a generation, someone puts forth an audacious idea that completely changes the way we see the world around us: is there an imbalance in our modern brain that is affecting how we live and deal with large problems in our society? This subversive theory is the brainchild of Dr Iain McGilchrist, an esteemed neuroscientist and psychiatrist. He argues that over centuries, the values of the left hemisphere have slowly been gaining influence in society, with disastrous consequences.
This has earned him comparisons to Freud and Darwin – but some scientists think he’s a heretic.
Join us on a mind-altering odyssey to explore evidence of McGilchrist’s radical new idea - a filmic quest to discover whether our society has been hijacked by the left hemisphere and what can be done to restore balance.
This is the film one half of your brain doesn’t want you to see.

When volcanoes exploded in the past, they helped shape us as a species. From our earliest ancestors to travellers battling with the effects of ash clouds on airline flights, our evolutionary destiny has been played out in the shadow of volcanoes. One day in the future there will be another super-eruption like the one that triggered the last ice age. There is a greater chance of a super-eruption happening in your lifetime than of winning the lottery!
Werner Herzog wants to find out why, where and how our lives are inextricably linked with the most destructive and creative force on Earth. In this global odyssey, he teams up with the world’s leading volcanologist, Clive Oppenheimer, to bring the story of the relationship between volcanoes, our planet and human society to audiences around the world.
